Is Anybody Going to Make a Hedone Wiki?

For a Media Wiki based effort you can count me in for organization stuff, including being a contributor. I'd additionally create some writing rules for german (don't worry just basic stuff no wicked Expert german language guide).

Do you know by any chance if that wiki supports the same syntax as media Wiki does?
As I already said: Media Wiki is also free, and you have all opportunities when you host it on your own server.

I don't know much about wikia vs. media wiki. I just suggested it because it's the only one I've seen used for other games, but media wiki sounds great too!

I think it's an awesome idea to create a Wiki. I'm more than willing to help in any way that I can.

1) Who wants to help organize the first efforts, including a list of organizers, contributors and translators?
2) Where would / should / could it be hosted?
3) Who would like to be added to a list of people wanting to contribute?
4) Who would like to help organize the efforts involved in creating proper, effective and accurate translations to ensure that the information stays the same, as much as possible, in all available languages on the wiki?

I will immediately throw myself in as a contributor

I don't have the time for any organizational stuff at the moment, but I would love to be a contributor.

I think I already said something about it earlier: There's enough stuff to be described. It should also be possible to write some articles in a "as far as we have seen in official releases" way. The earlier we start the better the base is when the game is oficcially released.

Hey guys im a web designer/developer and would gladly host it for free on my hosting plan, I can set up an official wiki too. If you guys want to chip in for the domain its just $7-10 a year. Like I said, I will host it on my host, and make a nice theme for the wiki too. Let me know!

Ideally I would hope that we could convince Acony to set us up with wiki.hedone.tv (sub-domains are easy enough, eh?) but in lieu of that... I would be willing to pay for the domain and can get free hosting from a friend who owns a hosting server. I also have access to a few hosts that I'm on really good terms with.

FYI xluongbro, I would enjoy talking to you about web stuff. I've been into it for many years now and really enjoy that sort of thing and am always up for meeting new designers and developers Drop me a PM sometime or ... perhaps we could start a new topic in the OT ?

True with the sub-domains - but since Wiki's are more of a community type thing I think it would be much cooler if we all banded together and did this on our own Kind of like a way to show them we are thankful for the game, and it's our own little hand at helping out. Just an idea.


Doesn't matter to me, like I said I have a great hosting plan with Hostgator that accepts unlimited domains (I'm already hosting over 10 of my websites on it) - and my Cpanel has Fantastico along with 3 or 4 Wiki softwares we could use I believe. Would literally take 3 seconds to set it all up - now a layout for the wiki would take a bit longer.

Yea man if you want to collaborate on this shoot me a PM because I could use some more stuff for my portfolio. Self-taught in all aspects here - in school for programming but web design/development is my passion.

Okay, reviving this discussion a little.

With the NDA would it be possible for us to discuss, write about, put on a wiki, etc., things that have already been shown in videos on the site? For example the Oil Rig and Shanty Maps, the Neurofang thing, and the akimbo slide (remembering that some of these things were also shown in detail in the Gamespy "first look"). A lot of info has already been disclosed. I think by giving out specific details on those things, though probably only those things due to the NDA, it would stir up even more excitement for the game. It's one thing to see a video of the Akimbo skill, quite another to be able to read about skill progression and stats of weapons. Just my opinion.

Of course the last thing I want to do is violate the NDA. I would love to hear from a Dev or a Mod who has some official say.

It is definitely stated by the NDA that already legally disclosed information no longer needs to be disclosed. But I think it's very difficult to see where that border is. It has been disclosed that there will be some kind of Akimbo possibility, but no real details.

But what definitely can be put in a Wiki are things like the background stories etc. Guns (at least Gun X will be available, Realsteel Gin is GUn X which is used in Army Z).

It isn't to much, but it would definitely be possible to put in fiorst contents, which can be expanded during OB and after release.
