View Full Version : Game won't finish download
EDIT: After hours of "running security scan" it finally finished, and let me run the program. But nothing else is happening? There is no installation part or anything. I'll give more updates on my problems if they are fixed or not.
For some reason, I am downloading the game. Once it finishes, it goes to the point of "running security scan..." and it just does that for hours. Is this normal? I downloaded the client from the fileplanet website. I also have a key, activated the key, and obviously, have an account for the game. Is there any other way to download this? I even experienced a problem downloading the same file from fileplanet on Bitcommet, and when it would reach 99%, it would crash the bitcommet torrent. Maybe the file is corrupt or something? If so, please give me another link to another site so I can download the game and test it.

I didn't have any problems downloading the game, it took about 5 minutes (I have 100Mb connection w00t) and the virus scan at the end didn't take long. But I've had problems with other downloads where it's taken anywhere up to 20 minutes or more to scan at the end. That's with Firefox and NOD32, and I assume it's their faults instead of the fault of the file being scanned.
Just wondering what browser and anti-virus you're using, and if you're tried another browser? Or maybe tried temporarily disabling your anti-virus while downloading/installing? ***Obviously you don't wanna be surfing any untrustworthy websites if you do disable your AV.***
I have had problems installing programs/games before too, where clicking on the .exe wouldn't do anything. Unfortunately that turned out to be Windows fault, or actually my own fault for using a registry cleaner that was optimised for the version of Windows I was running and messed it all up. Ended up having to format my PC and reinstall Windows...d'oh!!! :p But I hope thats not happened to you, of course.
Hmmm nothing else I can think of that could be the cause. I can't comment on whether there might be a problem with the installer or with fileplanet, as I don't deal with that side of things. And the above is based on my own n00b-ish experiences, most definately not Acony sanctioned ofc (dammit Jim, I'm an artist, not a coder! ;)), so take anything I say with a pinch of salt
Anyways, keep us posted here and let us know if you get it installed OK :) might be helpful for any other users who have similar problems. good luck!
I was using internet explorer, and I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials. I'll switch to firefox and see how it goes from there. Thanks for the feed back. :D
EDIT: It wasn't the fault of the browser, or the client. After some thinking and snooping around of my computer, it turns out it was the "Microsoft Security Essentials." This program uses a great amount of the CPU, which causes the browser to crash often. If the browser crashes often while the game is downloading, it can ruin the file. Once I stopped running Microsoft Security Essentials, I was able to download the game using Firefox, and I am currently installing.
I found a fix:
Some AV programs can use a lot of the CPU, so if the client is not running properly, I suggest closing the AV program.
